This practice builds on the foundations taught in Vagal Toning Class 1 with exercises that gently challenge you to expand your capacity for a wider range of nervous system states. This class focuses on strengthening your ability to handle stress and recovery more quickly.

Class 3 dives into the connection between the vagus nerve and your chakras as related to your endocrine system glands and nervous system plexes. You will work with creating the seed sounds of each of the chakras and working with your breath to create a felt sense of freedom in body, body, and spirit.

The fourth vagal toning class focuses on the upper cervical vertebrae and the occipital muscles at the base of your skull. Since the vagus nerve descends through these areas of your neck, self-massage in these sensitive spots can create relief from tension headaches and jaw pain. This a great class to take after seeing the dentist or if you are prone to TMJ and neck tightness. The goal of this practice is to help you create more flow through the mind-body superhighway of communication and there is a bigger picture, and this is why we are here. When the brain is able to communicate between the left and right hemispheres, you are better able to recognize your emotions and communicate them to others. Integration between the two sides of your brain helps you pay attention to the big picture of your life while also being able to focus on what is right in front of you. Put simply, when the two sides of your brain are working together, you feel integrated and whole. You are able to identify what is important and engage in meaningful actions that provide you with a sense of purpose. Likewise, it is beneficial to build connections between your brain and your body. In this vagal toning class, you will receive a lecture about how the lower vagal circuit helps you move into a relaxation response when you feel safe and how we can begin to uncouple the threat response from the parasympathetic nervous system.

This is followed by a gentle yoga practice with a yoga nidra (yogic sleep) aimed to enhance your rest and digest response.
