The Business of Psychotherapy

When psychotherapists are in graduate school we learn about how to provide competent clinical care for our clients. We also have opportunities to practice within agency based practicum and internships settings. However, manyย graduate with an intention to start a private practice and are at a loss with how to set up the infrastructure of a business. It is important to know how to market yourself so that your good clinical skills can become accessible to the clients who will benefit.

Personally, in addition to providing psychotherapy for clients, I experienceย great satisfactionย in supporting other clinicians. I do so by providing trainings for therapists as well as consultation and supervision.

In this interview, Juliet Austin explores my own journeyย from being a graduate student to having a thriving private practice and a published book. You can listen to my interview and visit her websiteย @JulietAustin on Businesses in Bloom. If you visit her site you will find plenty of practice building resources.
